The World Between

Madi Baldwin

The girl stands still,

encased in shadows,

becoming part of them.

Her collarbone cuts the air and her lips

lay parted.

She is calm.

In a world of fear,

she embraces the discomfort,

And learns to bear it.

But her eyes hold stars,

and her mind holds galaxies.

And so,

perhaps,

she was never really here in the first place.
