Kentucky
Legs the color of coffee, meet hooves full of power,
Galloping on iridescent grass, two foals seem to be in flight.
The sun sets, becoming a background to the energetic foals,
A composition befitting of imagination.
Kentucky.
Water gently flows, iridescence coursing through its veins.
Feet of many colors crash through the surface,
Splashing each other, they look different;
But, here, they are the same.
Kentucky.
A football cuts the air, missing the boy’s arms.
With a thud, it hits the ground;
The ground, stitched together by people from a time long passed,
Their echoed footsteps are only a whisper.
Kentucky.
Blue sweaters are pulled over common clothes,
Family and friends gather around television screens,
They fill the arena seats, cheering, shouting,
Eyes following every bounce of the basketball.
Kentucky.
Legs the color of coffee,
Water gently flowing,
Footballs flying,
Blue sweaters.
This is our home.
