Versailles
Cole Romine / Woodford County
Versailles: a town of small things, insignificant yet important things, small but meaningful things. Full of life, memories, and experiences, times long past, and people long gone. Faces I have seen all my life changing into new people with new memories and new experiences, behind the aged faces of the people I once loved.
I feel as if I am an outsider. I have been here all my life, but I don’t belong here. I have been here all my life, but I am not truly here. People say “If you stay one place long enough, you are that place.” I am not this place, this place is too great for me to be a part of. All the people I used to know, and all the places I used to love, maybe I once was a part of this town, but over time I had left behind; the years, the tears, the memories, and my life here, in Versailles.
Maybe I have come to realize that even though I am not this town and could never be this town. This town has life within it. The life of this town is in the people, the angriest people, the happiest people, the saddest people, the peoplest people. People with lives, memories, experiences, people with people, these people are Versailles.
