Sunlight
Hannah Kincaid / Woodford County
Grasp a glistening glimpse.
Let your eyes swallow the sunlight
Surging in from the window
And painting gentle features golden.
Chase the light as it traces
Each cascading strand.
Watch it entwine with the black waves
Pouring like silk over shoulders
In many a dark delicious curl.
The sunny hues flow in
And flood your eyes in warm color.
Don’t blink or look away,
Even when the glare blinds you.
It won’t be there long.
It’s only a glimpse,
A fading peek through a closing doorway.
