Cosmos
Sofia Shultz
Step out onto the grassy slope,
Upon mother's back,
Gaze into the eye cerulean Uranus,
Twinkling heavens upon his belt.
His skin ignited by flaming stars,
Distant, yet they flash,
Contrast the midnight expanse,
The imperial night, sapphire sovereign.
He fills sky and space with his massive shape,
Held up by son's shoulders,
The great ceiling of earth.
Omnipresent, dimmed only by curtain of sunlight,
Blinding us from his exhibition.
Above he still lurks, behind the day.
As Helios rides his chariot through the sky,
If you look up, you may still see his eye,
Gaping down upon mortality.
