I Play with Monsters

Tristan Easley

I play with monsters

I was gone with friends all day,

9 years old, all we could ever do was play.

Run around, get tired, and lay

Until we need to fight the dragon

Who I told my mom I would slay.

Each day it was a different beast.

I think of myself as a monster slayer, to say the least.

Fight them each and everyday,

As my sword cuts and sways,

Until the deed is done,

The blood re-payed.

Eventually I would get hungry and want to eat.

Monster slaying is such a feat.

After, I would get tucked in to rest and sleep,

Until tomorrow, and do it all again in repeat.

Home is where I play.

It's where the monsters become the prey,

Fighting them off throughout the day.

I wish I could do it till I die,

Because home is where I want to stay
